What information we collect from you.
Although Warm Heart is a nonprofit, our online store operates like other online stores. We collect a considerable amount of information about you to be able to fulfill your orders and process your payments. This said, we collect as little private information as possible and do not share that information any more widely than is absolutely required for the purposes of completing your transactions.
- Information you give us: Virtually all of the information we collect about you is provided by you. If you purchase an item from us, you will need to give us your contact information, the billing and shipping information and an email address at which you can be contacted in case of questions. If you choose to establish an account with us, you will have the option to create a personal profile; how much or how little information you provide is up to you. Note: The credit card information that you provide to complete purchases is not collected by Warm Heart, but by PayPal, a separate, third party service provider we pay to handle all transactions. Please refer to the PayPal Privacy Statement for information about their policies.
- Automatic information (cookies): Our online shop platform, 1&1, will place “cookies” on your computer’s hard drive to speed up your interaction with our store. Cookies are tiny identifiers that permit our servers to recognize your computer immediately and to welcome you back if you have established an account with us. If you do not wish to be “cookied” you can go to the Help section in the toolbar of your browser. There you will find instructions for blocking cookies. Please note, however, that if you do block cookies, you will be unable to use our shopping cart or proceed to checkout.
Does Warm Heart share the information it collects?
Our position on privacy is simple: your information is your information. Warm Heart therefore does not share the information that it acquires with anyone not directly involved in helping us to serve you. Of necessity we share your order and shipping information with our fulfillment house, which picks, packs and ships your selections. Likewise, on our site you enter your credit card information directly into the PayPal online payment system. Otherwise, your information stays with us. We do not sell it to advertisers or other websites, nor do we share it with other nonprofits. Your information is your information.
What we will do with the information.
We would like to believe that people who shop at Warm Heart share our commitment to grassroots community development through helping the poor to grow sustainable small businesses. Because we do, the one thing that we will do with your information is to send you the next issue of the Warm Heart newsletter after a purchase. If at any point you decide that you no longer want to receive the Warm Heart newsletter, just check “Please remove me from the mailing list” at the bottom of the newsletter.
What information can I see and control?
If you have any questions about the information that we hold about you, please contact us. Please be sure to put “Privacy/personal information” in the subject line. Explain your concerns and we will try to resolve them. In the unlikely event of a dispute, this Privacy Notice and our General Terms and Conditions including limitations on damages, resolutions of disputes, and the jurisdiction and application of the laws of the state of New Jersey shall apply.
